Violinist Sharon Gunderson was born and raised in Flagstaff, Arizona, where she soloed twice with the Flagstaff Symphony before receiving her Bachelor of Music degree from Boston’s New England Conservatory of Music.  During her 26 years in New York City, Sharon has performed at Lincoln Center, at Carnegie Hall with the American Symphony Orchestra, and in the Stamford Symphony, Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic and Rhode Island Philharmonic, where she shared stages with André Watts, Itzhak Perlman, Hélène Grimaud, and Yo-Yo Ma. Other appearances include the orchestras of Andrea Bocelli, Johnny Mathis, Dianne Reeves, and Bernadette Peters, as well as the Late Show with David Letterman. Sharon was one of many volunteer musicians who played for the recovery workers at St. Paul’s Chapel next to Ground Zero.  In 2008, she and pianist Mary Bopp founded Chamber16, a dynamic consortium of artists presenting classical, modern, original repertoire, and improvisation for eleven seasons.  Sharon has worked with Michael Spierman in Orchestra of the Bronx and Bronx Opera for over 20 years, and she’s excited to bring Mozart’s 5th Violin Concerto to the stage with him on October 20th.
